Black History Month

Black History Month 2019

1st-31st October

With the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush on British shores last year, it's a better time than ever to focus on black Britons. Here, we've collected a few of our resources which might be of use to primary teachers during this year's Black History Month. 'Rebuilding Britain: Windrush' in particular focuses on Caribbean migration to Britain at the end of the Second World War. It includes accounts of Windrush passengers and the difficulties they, and their country men and women faced when they arrived in Britain – as well as the contributions of Carribean people to British culture. Additionally, you'll find self-contained one-off lessons about significant black figures in the American civil rights movement.

That's why we try to give you as much as we can with every teaching pack – to help you and make life easier. We've obsessively pored over the National Curriculum objectives to make sure that you get excellent coverage when you teach with PlanBee, and that you get engaging, challenging learning activities with which all of your children can achieve and make progress.

It only takes a moment to sign up with PlanBee and start downloading, so you can claim back a bit more You time! Our Complete Series of lessons come with assessment questions and marking grids, too – it's another way we've tried to make the incredible job you do that little bit easier!

Our Reviews

“All of the individual plans and complete series I have downloaded from PlanBee have been well-planned so as to ensure the information provided in the slideshows is detailed whilst being age-appropriate. Also, the worksheets offer a range of clearly differentiated and challenging activities that allow for excellent curriculum coverage. PlanBee have been quick to adapt their resources in line with the new curriculum, which serves to support schools in making the changes themselves by seeing how the objectives could be taught. I can confidently state that I will continue to use PlanBee for many more years to come!”
