Monet and the Impressionists: Cityscapes

Year 5

Year 6

SKU: A56IL30014

This KS2 Impressionism Art lesson explores some of Monet's famous paintings of cities, from the Gare St-Lazare of Paris to the Houses of Parliament in London.

After considering why the art establishment at the time thought paintings of industrialisation were not appropriate art subjects, your children will look at some of Monet's paintings of cities, then either create paintings of their own local town or city, or work as a class to recreate Monet's famous 'Sunset in Venice'.

This Cityscapes Art lesson comes completely planned and ready to deliver to your class. There's a lesson plan, a slideshow for the whole class teaching input, activity ideas and resources.
