Children will learn and use multiplication facts for the three and four times tables in lots of fun and exciting ways! They will also learn how to solve missing number problems, and use their knowledge and understanding of multiplication facts to scale up amounts.

#Lesson1TheThreeTimesTable

The first lesson in this series introduces children to the three times table facts. Children identify multiples of three on a 100 square, and discuss any patterns that they see. They learn that multiplication can be done in any order. Children then practise their three times table knowledge in their independent work.

#Lesson2TheFourTimesTable

In this lesson, children are introduced to the four times table facts. They play counting on games and identify missing multiples of four on a 100 square. Children learn that all multiples of four are even, and that this can be used to check answers. They will then play a variety of games in pairs to practise their knowledge of the four times table facts.

Children are challenged to answer quick - fire questions using their knowledge of the three and four times table facts. They learn the definition of a ‘multiple’, and play a whole class game involving multiples of three and four. Children then apply their understanding of multiples by solving crossword puzzles.

#Lesson4MissingNumberProblems

The lesson begins with the children identifying multiples of three and four in a set of numbers. They are then shown a number sentence with a missing number, and are challenged to find the answer. Children learn how to use division to find a missing number in a multiplication sentence. They then practise this skill by playing games involving missing numbers.
