Let's identify 2-D shapes!: Making patterns

  • Lesson 5 of 5

SKU: M1IL30065

This final lesson in the series focuses on a different way of exploring the properties of shape: making pictures and patterns. The included slides show how several triangles or rectangles can be arranged to make bigger, composite shapes, as well as how polygons can be arranged to make gapless, tessellating patterns. As in the other lessons of this scheme of work, the plan and slides include opportunities for children to answer questions and apply their learning during your teaching input before going on to consolidate their skills during one of four differentiated learning activities.
