This first lesson in the series recaps the eight different British coins and their values. The slides for the teaching input introduce the children to the concept of combining the value of different coins to make a new total. The children will explore ways to make 2p, 5p and 10p with different coins.

Now that your class are beginning to become familiar with the value of coins, they will enjoy reinforcing their understanding through the magic piggy bank visual slides. The children will watch as one coin goes into the piggy bank and several reappear. The children will need to decide how many coins will appear that have the same value as the original coin.
